Class 3

We hope you all had a great Christmas holiday and are rested and ready to go!  The teachers in Year Three this term are Mrs Boon (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday am) and Miss Ormston (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday). Supporting the children in class will be Mrs Cox and Miss Short. We are all excited about the new term ahead and have lots of fun activities planned for the children starting with learning all about Ancient Greece!

Classroom Environment

We are trying to make the classroom environment warm, homely and calming to help the children feel as comfortable as possible. There is a lot of research which suggest bright colours and a busy classroom can over-stimulate learners so we are trying to make it as relaxing and soft as possible! No snoozing though!!  .

Homework this term

Homework will be given out on a Friday and returned the following Thursday.

Each week the children will be expected to:

1) Complete their spellings which they are sent home with on a Friday, by the following Thursday. Children will then be tested on these words on a Friday.

2) Complete Times tables Rockstars worksheet for three minutes, four times a week. If you have access to the internet, children can also login and play.

3) Read at least 3 times a week. Your children should have a list of comprehension question stems in the front of their reading record. In order to help your child develop their understanding of the text, please try to ask a few of these questions each time you hear them read. Please sign their reading record each time they read. Reading books and reading records should be brought to school each day and this will be monitored everyday.

If reading, or homework, is not completed at home, then your child will have to do this at school in their own time. If anyone needs support with their homework, then please come and see us as we will be available to help them.

Learning Together

Learning together will now take place on the first Friday morning of every month from 8:40-9:40 am. We will Dojo message you theme of these prior to the sessions taking place.

PE

Our day for PE is Wednesday. Please ensure a full PE kit is brought on this day or  kept in a bag on your child's peg. It is important that all clothing is clearly labelled.
