There are 6 governor meetings a year, in addition each governor is expected to complete 6 visits into school linked to their specific role.
What is the role of a governor?
The governing body is responsible for the school's vision. They check that the school is on track to deliver a high standard of education to all children. Governors do this by supporting and challenging the headteacher and staff, checking in various ways and with various people, to ensure it is achieving its goals.
What do governors do?
The role of a governor is extremely rewarding and varied. It can involve using knowledge you already have in a new context, or it can be completely new (training is provided!). It involves visits into classrooms to meet children, interviewing for new members of staff, health and safety inspections, working collaboratively and communicating effectively, to name but a few of the roles we undertake.
