Art

At Woodfield Primary and Nursery, we promote creativity through an art curriculum that engages, inspires and challenges our pupils.   By providing opportunities for exploration and expression, pupils learn to communicate their ideas, while learning and building on, a wide range of techniques and artistic styles.  They will learn about a wide range of artists, craft-makers and designers, holding reflective discussions where everyone is invited to express their own point of view while developing empathy and respect for diverse perspectives.    Pupils are taught to safely use and explore a variety of materials and tools, experimenting with colour, design, texture, form and function and are then supported to work on their own or collaboratively, with a focus on creating individual and unique outcomes.

We take every opportunity to work with local artists and support pupils to feel confident in exploring their own creative prospects.  Our aim is that pupils will leave our school knowing the importance that art and design plays in shaping our history, and it's contribution to the culture and creativity of the world we live in.
