So that children have a positive start to their day we have a rolling start time. This enables the children to come into school within a ten-minute window and get themselves prepared for the day. The teachers welcome the children in and listen to any news that they would like to share before the main teaching session start.
Start of the day the main school gates are opened at 8:40am by a member of our Senior Leadership and Pastoral Team, who are there to welcome the children and to speak to any parents who might have questions. The gates are closed at 8:50am, if your child arrives after this time, they must use the gate at the top of the school drive.
It is essential that children arrive to school on time every day, so that they are prepared and ready to learn.
Playtime is at 10:45am – 11:00am and we use both of our playgrounds, Year 1 and Year 2 use the playground at the front of school and Year 3 – Year 6 use the back playground. At this time Year 1 and 2 are provided with free fruit as a snack. The older children are allowed to bring in a piece of fruit as a snack from home if they choose.
Lunchtime is at 12:10pm – 1:10pm this is supervised by our teaching assistants. We believe that by using our TAs it means that the staff really know the children as well as having a great understanding of our relationship approach to behaviour to support the children.
End of the day, again members from our Senior Leadership and Pastoral Teams open the gates at 3:10pm and the children are brought out by their class teachers at 3:15pm. Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2 come out into our front playground and are handed over one at a time to their adults. Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 all come out through our main school door before meeting their parents.
Wrap Around Care is available at the school from 7:30am – 5:45pm, please click here for more details.
The Nursery run morning and afternoon sessions these are 8:45am – 11:45am and then 12:30 – 3:30pm. There is a lunchtime club that is also available from 11:45am – 12:30pm for the children who stay all day. The children are met by the nursery team at their entrance at the beginning of the session. The staff are there to support the children transition into nursery and answer any questions that parents might have.
Our school lunches are prepared and cooked fresh on site by our amazing cook Sian and her team Kelly and George. We buy into CaterEd to ensure that the children have a balanced health meal. Sian is a very experienced cook and can support all dietary requirements. Please contact the school office if you have any questions for her.
Here is the menu for the September to December 2023.
In Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2 all children receive a free school meal daily and we encourage parents to take this opportunity. You might also be entitled to Free School Meals if you are receipt of certain benefits, please click the link below to find if this is applicable for your child.
It is really important to us as a school for any parents who might be able to apply for free school meals to do so, even if you don't plan on having a school lunch as it brings extra funding to the school.
At Woodfield, we encourage the children to always take pride in wearing their school uniform. We believe it gives the children a sense of belonging and unites us all behind a common identity. It also helps us to identify each other when we are out and about in the community. We encourage the children to look after their belongings and we ask that you ensure that all your child’s clothes are clearly marked with their name.
The uniform is:
- Grey skirt, pinafore or trousers
- White polo shirt
- Navy blue sweatshirt or cardigan (Branded with the school logo or plain)
- Black school shoes
- White crew neck t-shirt (Branded in your child's team colour ot plain)
- Black shorts, leggings or tracksuit bottoms
The school is committed to ensuring that we keep the costs as low as possible for families when purchasing uniform. We have a Trust policy to ensure that this is fair and consistent across our school. Whilst we have branded uniform we are happy if parents would prefer to purchase plain unbranded uniform from other schools.
We are in the process of changing our logo on our uniform along with the supplier, more details in follow in Summer June 2023
Please note that
- the black shoes should be flat and fit well with minimal branding
- jewellery should not be worn, any earrings should be small studs
- no make-up or nail varnish should be worn to school.
Thank you for your continued support
